Talk n Text Beats Ginebra In Game 6 To Win Championship of PBA Finals 2011 Commissioner's Cup: They Capture The PBA Crown Back To Back
The Talk 'N Text Tropang texters have finished the agony of the Ginebra Gin Kings as they win the 2011 PBA Commissioner's Cup best of 7 Finals series. They wrapped up the series in game 6. Game 6 went into overtime. The game was so close. The largest lead in the game was just 13 points courtesy of Ginebra. Both teams showed their heart in this game. For me both teams are winners but just like any game, there should be winners and losers. The winners are the Talk 'n Text Tropang Texters. They win game 6 via 99-96. This game proved that the PBA's golden age is starting again. This game was an epic one with neither of the teams giving up till the last buzzer.
The bench of Ginebra was the key why they managed to stay close with TNT. Willie Miller had 21 points to lead all scorers for Ginebra. John Wilson defense against Harris was great. He also had a great shooting game. He scored 14 points in this game. JC Intal was also big for Ginebra. He had 17 points, but he was also part of the reason why TNT managed to tie the ball game in the regulation. He rushed a three pointer that was a brick and TNT got into a transition offense and they immediately had 2 points. He should learn how to milk the clock next time.
The Finals MVP’s were Jimmy Alapag and Jayson Castro. Alapag had 24 points and Castro had 19 points. They were big in most parts of this game especially in the last 2 minutes. Alapag had a free lay-up to cut the lead of Ginebra down to two while Castro made a great defensive job against Caguioa and he had several three pointers including the all important three in the overtime to increase their lead to 8 points. They were the reason why there was an overtime. Ranidel De Ocampo also played a big role for Talk ‘N Text. He played the shooting guard position and he hit some big shots including a three pointer that went in when it was about to go out of the rim. He’s the lucky charm of Talk ‘N Text. Though he made an error in the end of the regulation because he didn’t shoot the ball for a possible game winner, he’s still one of the heroes in this game.
Mark Caguioa was well guarded in this game. He was blocked several times by Jayson Castro. He was not a factor in this ball game. He was given the opportunity to win it for Ginebra but he failed. All his promises were broken. He only had 6 points. Good thing Willie Miller erupted in this game. He had 21 points for Ginebra. He’s been off since game 1 but he went berserk in this all important game 6.
In the import battle Nate Brumfield was terrific in the first half but he became tentative in the second half. He also went out in ovetime because of cramps. That’s the time when Ginebra crumbled to defeat. He had 18 points which came mostly in the first half. Paul Harris on ther hand was in foul trouble in the first half but in the second half he came out strong. He had many line drives he shot several pull up jumpers in the third quarter. He also had 18 points in this game but his points came when Talk ‘n Text need them the most. He will surely be back for the Texters in the Governor’s Cup.
Kelly Williams struggled to score in this game but he was the leader of the bench in praying for his team to win. He only had 10 points.
The good news for the Gin Kings is that they have found their new superstars in Roberts Labagala and John Wilson. They will remain to be contenders in the upcoming Governor’s Cup on June. They will again face the Talk ‘n Text Tropang Texters on June 5, 2011 in the Governor’s Cup eliminations in Dubai. Jayjay Helterbrand will now be available for Ginebra. The Tropang Texters will be going for a Grand Slam in the Governor's Cup.
