Boston Celtics One Win Away From Their 19th Championship
Basketball aficianados all over the world sum up the happenings in this game as "Boston Celtics vs. Kobe Bryant!" They think that this trend should stop if the Lakers ought to beat the Celtics. But the attempt to put an end to this trend wasn't apparent in Game 5 as the Celtics once again beat the Lakers via 86-92. They now have a 3-2 lead in the series. They are now one win away from getting their 19th NBA Championship.Game 6 and game 7 will be in Los Angeles.
Throughout the course of game 5 Paul Pierce was unstoppable, shooting three's, and driving all over the porous Lakers' defense. He pitched in 27 points. Together with Rajon Rondo's playmaking, the Celtics are now peaking at the right time. Rondo had 8 points and 12 assists. L.A. should be wary of the Celtics because they are in cruise control and they have the momentum.
The Lakers trailed all throughout the game. I will show below the table of scoring per quarter, the game statistics, the player statistics, and a video of the game highlights all from NBA.COM.
Here are some of my observations and analysis based on the data below:
1. If the Lakers want to win the series they should a well balanced scoring. Kobe should share the ball more to his teamates and he must not monopolize the scoring. We should remember that the Celtics have great teamwork and the Lakers must imitate it.
2. The Lakers should lower the scoring in the paint of the Celtics. They should defend Glen Davis, Kevin Garnette and Kendrick Perkins well.
3. If the Celtics score more than 85 points the Lakers lose.
4. They should get more offensive rebounds.
5. And finally, they should match the on court hustle of Rajon Rondo.
