RP Philippine Women 's Basketball Team 2010 SEABA Tournament

The Philippine Women Basketball Team failed to be included in the 16th Asian Games. This has become part of their motivation to work better as a team and to start practicing as early as possible for them to have better chemistry and resiliency on the court. The ball is round so as their fate. Who knows they might be the one on top after their hard work and after their bad experiences and in not being able to qualify for the 16th Asian Games.

Coach Haydee Ong said that they are now ready to face stronger and taller and their focus on winning the crown in the upcoming Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) championship.

The committee of the Philippine Olympics has given them their schedule of games for the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) championship. It was from a random drawlots from the drawlots committee of the games. The drawlots were held last October 7,2010.

If they will win in the Seaba championship they will have a chance to qualify in Guangzhou Asiad which will be on November 12 to 27.

If they will only win the silver medal or a loss would mean that they won't qualify. They have to win the championship. The qualifying tournament will take place on The Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Pasay. It will be from October 24-29. This is the first time for the Philippines to host such a very famous tournament.

Coach Haydee Ong said that,"For a while, we had hoped to participate in the Asian Games. Kumbaga ay bonus na lang kung ma-include kami. Kung hindi naman okay lang. This will be the first time that the Philippines will be staging an international tournament, so maganda siguro kung mananalo din tayo ng ating kauna-unahang kampeonato.I feel we have a good chance in the tournament, especially since we’ll have the homecourt advantage here. And number two, the core of the team has been practicing for the last two years, so cohesion won’t be a problem, Speed, shooting and defense, departments that we lacked before we plunged into training, have all improved a lot."

If they will win, it will only be the first ever championship for our country. The whole women's team is one in their quest to win one for our country. From Sylvia Marie Valencia and Joan Grajales, Filipino-American recruits Joan Jacob and Ana Pineda and Filipino-Canadian Cassandra Tioseco, Aurora Adriano, Merenciana Arayi, Angel Jo Gloriani, Ma. Ana Tolentino, Bernadette Mercado, Diana Rose Jose, Maria Lalaine Flormata and down to Chnovin Borja they are one in their goal.
