De La Salle Green Archers Beats San Beda Red Lions In PCCL 2010 Elite 8 Classic Showdown
The De La Salle University Green Archers has proven to the San Beda Red Lions, the current NCAA Season 86 reigning champions that the UAAP teams are a cut above the rest. They have just let San Beda experience a drastic paradigm shift from being unscathed from their NCAA tourney to being a team who trails in the first half up to the end of regulation. They beat San Beda with the score of 84-74.
Simon Atkins, whose injury seemed nothing, as he sunk several three point bombs to halt San Beda's inside superiority.
Sam Marata also had a great three point shooting game as he showed to the whole crowd that he was not a former UAAP Juniors MVP for nothing.
But the three rookie guards of La Salle were really the special persons that kept them afloat in this game wherein they were really under-manned. Almond Vosotros, got his hang time moves on against the shorter Anjo Caram of San Beda. Almond was really pumped up in this game because his girlfriend, Princess, was on the stands watching him. He also showed his great handle as he was able to fend off San Beda's fullcourt pressure. He also sunk a game leading shot at the end of the first half that gave them a two-point lead. Jarelan Tampus, the former star player of the Letran Squires was named as the best player of the game because of his daredevil drives and disrupting steals on the court. He had 16 points and he grabbed 7 rebounds.
Nico Elorde also showed an LA Tenorio like performance. He distributed the ball really well. It was one of those days that he had a great night of sleep that he can't miss on his shots the next day. He put the 6'9 Sudan Daniel in his poster when he made a double pump twisting shot that puzzled Daniel.
Ferdinand also stood his ground against the ominous pounding presence of Sudan Daniel. He willingly sacrificed his body for the win. Although he fouled out in the game because of eagerness and technical fouls. But, Tayshaun Prince Andrada stepped up his game due to Ferdinand's absence. He had 6 blocks including a Tayshaun Prince remake block on Reggie Miller. Andrada blocked Anthony Semerad's free lay-up. He came from way down their front court just to chase and block Semerad's shot.
The DLSU Green Archers will meet with the Adamson University Falcons tomorrow for the semi-finals.
Will we see another Ateneo-La Salle championship game?
It's destiny baby!
