Kiefer Ravena and Baser Amer Smart Gilas ' New Guards As They Enter PBA Next Conference
Two of the best highschool basketball players, Kiefer Ravena and Baser Amer have agreed to join the Philippine National Basketball team known as Smart Gilas.
Ravena, who would suit up for the Ateneo Blue Eagles and Amer who would play for the San Beda Red Lions have agreed to play for the Smart Gilas Team in the upcoming new season of the PBA.
The PBA board of governors have agreed to give the vacant slot which was vacated by the Barako Bull to Smart Gilas. In the next conference, Smart Gilas will be joining the PBA and their players will get the exposure that they need in order for their bodies to adapt quickly to competitive games.
Kiefer Ravena was very happy when he heard of the plans of Coach Rajko Toroman and the Smart Gilas. He would now be getting a chance to play against his favorite PBA player Jimmy Alapag of the Talk 'n Text Tropang Texters. Aside from Alapag, he also wants to play against Mac Cardona. His father, Bong Ravena is part of Talk 'n Text's coaching staff.
Amer on the other hand was praised by his high school coach, Rick Reroma. Reroma said that his ace guard have what it takes to play in the PBA. He said that he has the basketball IQ that is needed to be successful in the PBA.
If they would be able to play in the PBA, they will join Terry Saldana as the only 3 highschool players to become a PBA player at an early age.
Ricky Rubio of the Spanish basketball team became a professional basketball player when he was 17 years old. He has turned out to be a great pointguard. He was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves but due to residency issues, he will be joining them next season.
We all have to pray hard that Ravena and Amer would do well in PBA, that they would get all the necessary experiences that they ought to have so that Smart Gilas could do well with them in international tournaments.
