San Miguel Beermen SMB Beats Ginebra Gin Kings In PBA Season 36 Philippine Cup Semi-Finals
Alex Cabagnot is continuing to shine for San Miguel Beermen (SMB) as he helps his team beat Ginebra in PBA Season 36 Semis game 1. They now lead the best of 7 series, 1-0. The score was 86-84 in favor of SMB. The Big Dome also known as Araneta Coliseum was jampacked as it was a game that involves Ginebra. This is a bad sign for Ginebra if they ought to take this series up to game 7. Earlier, coach Jong and his players swore that they will not make it easy for SMB even if they are sister teams.
This win for SMB was not an easy one. Though they built a 14 point lead in the game, Ginebra was able to make the score close. They even had the lead in the last 21 seconds of the ball game. They could have won if Alex Cabagnot missed his last perimeter shot. He was able to tie the game, with an 84-84 score.
Cabagnot was the hero for SMB. He made crucial shots. He had 15 points for SMB. His partner, Jay Washington had 19 points. Their new acquisition from Barako Bull, Sunday Salvacion teamed up with Arwind Santos for 11 points that helped SMB take an early 1-0 lead in the best of 7 Semis. Salvacion made 2 threes for SMB.
Ginebra's big men failed to show up their usual performance. Enrico Villanueva and JC Intal scored only for 10 points each. This was way low compared to their performance against Alaska.
Mark the spark Caguioa and Willie Miller combined only for 20 points for Ginebra. This is also way low compared to their performance against Alaska.
Earlier today before the start of the game, Arwind Santos of SMB received the Rain or Shine-PBA Press Corps Elims Top Peformer award. He was able to beat Joe Devance and Harvey Carey.
Alex Cabagnot was so happy and he was filled with high-spirits in this game because he saw the trust that SMB has given him.
