Ginebra Gin Kings Beat Meralco Bolts in PBA Commissioners Cup Opening Game 2011



Despite the new line-up of the Meralco Bolts they still failed to beat the Ginebra Gin Kings in the 2011 Commissioner's Cup opening game which was held in Ilocos Norte Centennial Arena in Laoag today, February 18, 2011. This is the first live telecast of ABS-CBN Studio 23 as the new mother network of the Philippine Basketball Association or PBA.

Ginebra beat Meralco with the score of 115-98. Coach Jong Juichico was very happy about the result of the game and that this win is very important for their momentum.

The hardworking import of Ginebra, Brumfield, had 32 points via 10 out of 12 field goal shooting. He also had 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Mark the spark Caguioa had 20 big points while Miller and Tubid combined for 31 big points to pace Ginebra over the new Meralco Bolts.


Ginebra dominated this ball game. They led all throughout the game. But it was the import of Meralco, Tony Dandridge, who showed his talent to the Filipinos as he scored 30 points, and he grabbed 9 rebounds. Asi Taulava had a double-double performance. He had 23 points and 10 rebounds. But their two superstars, Solomon Mercado and Mac Cardona were missing in the scoring of Meralco. Cardona only had 6 points and Mercado had 19 points.

The new players of Meralco, Marlou Aquino, Reynel Hugnatan and Nelbert Omolon were not yet playing for their new team because of injuries.
