Japeth Aguilar Joins Smart Gilas For Asian Tourney 2011 The Second Time Around
The US NCAA Division 2 Western Kentucky University standout, the 6'9 dunking machine Japeth Aguilar has once again joined the short-handed Smart Gilas national basketball team in the upcoming Asian Tourney which will be held earlier this year.
He agreed to play for the Smart Gilas up to the end of the most awaited FIBA-Asia Championship, which will be in September. It will be held in Wuhan, China.
After FIBA-Asia, Japeth will have to join his PBA team, the Talk 'n Text Tropang Texters. He has been attending the practices of his PBA team which is being held regularly at the Moro Lorenzo in the Ateneo De Manila University. Coach Chot said that Japeth is slowly recovering after suffering an injury.
The PBA second conference will start on February 20, 2011. It will be called the Commissioner’s Cup. Japeth will have to be ready to face some tall and bulky imports.
But the Smart Gilas Coach disagreed with the plan. He wants Japeth to stay with Smart Gilas as long as they need his services. Japeth should play in the third conference of the PBA and not in the second. He should play not in the commissioner's cup but in the governor's cup.
