Ginebra Beats Smart Gilas, Enters PBA Finals: Ginebra vs Talk n Text In PBA Commissioner 's Cup 2011




When the Smart Gilas scared Ginebra, the Gin Kings called for the intercession of the Saint, Ronald Tudid. When the Saint is around, Ginebra is very hard to beat. The Saint, led Ginebra to a 92 to 85 win over the feisty Smart Gilas. Chris Tiu showed his metal but his efforts didn't overcame the Gin Kings and their large crowd at the Araneta Coliseum. The Gin Kings will now face the dreaded Talk 'n Text Tropang Texters in the PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals on Wednesday. They will have a best of 7 series.

Ginebra's Nate Brumfield had a low scoring game but his hustle and court smarts were enough to fend off Gilas' late rally. He only had 9 points. Mark Caguioa, Willie Miller and Rudy Hatfield all played big for Ginebra.

Coach Jong Uichico felt good about this win because it tells a lot about him as a coach. He has been leading this team to its 19th PBA Finals campaign. He is hoping that this better performance of his players will serve as a confidence booster against the Tropang Texters, a team which he considers as the strongest team in the PBA. They didn't beat this team in the eliminations.

Coach Jong also pointed out the importance of his bench. His bench lifted them for the win. Without them they will not beat Gilas.

Gilas led by a lot of points, 51-36 in the first half but they failed to contain the energy and the veteran smarts of Ginebra. Casio and Lassiter were off in this game.



The Hero in this game was Ronald Tubid. He had 22 points. Caguioa had 15 points and Rudy Hatfield had 16 points.
