San Sebastian Beats La Salle In FilOil Flying V 2011 Premier Cup



The San Sebastian Stags being led by Calvin Abueva and Ronald Pascual beat the relentless De La Salle University Green Archers.

San Sebastian had an huge 17 point lead but La Salle made a come back. The hearts of the Stags were exposed as they hung tough and go on to stave off La Salle's late rally. They go on to win with the score of 88-81.

The Stags' lead were cut into just one point but Ian Sangalang and Jonathan Semira, two of Baste's hot shots combined for 6 points in just 3 minutes to give Baste a 7 point lead in the last 1 minute and 4 seconds of the very classy game. The beast of Baste, Calvin Abueva showed his great free throw shooting as he iced the ball game with his two free throws.

Coach Turo Valenzona, the returning head coach of Baste said:
“Our patterns are still a little out of sync because most of our veterans could not join practices due to their commitment with the PBA D-League.”

But nonetheless, he was happy about the result of this all important game. They have lost to UST and they badly want to take this win in order for their championship hopes in the FilOil league to stay alive.
