Talk n Text Beats Ginebra In Game 1 of PBA Finals 2011 Commissioner's Cup

Talk 'n Text has once again maintained their almost unbeaten record in the PBA Commissioner's Cup 2011. So far they have only lost to Smart Gilas. They have swept Air 21 in the semi-finals. They are now on their way to sweeping the Ginebra Gin Kings in their Finals series. They won game 1 with the score of 102 to 83. Ryan Reyes was the best player of the game. TNT did a great job in defending Nate Brumfield. They not only double teamed him, they also tippled team him. Nate also had a hard time in sinking his free throws. Ali Peek did a great job in defending the Ginebra import.

Meanwhile, TNT's import, Paul Harris fortified his best import bid as he carried his team with all his might. He showed his inside and out game to all those who watched this game 1. He had 28 big points. He is now the leading candidate for best import honors. Meanwhile, Mark Caguioa, the leader of the Kings had 23 points. He made a terrific buzzer beating 3 pointer at the end of the 2nd quarter to give Ginebra a 47 to 46 lead. But in the 2nd half, Caguioa made a huge mistake when he tripped Jayson Castro. He received a flagrant foul which gave the momentum to TNT. TNT had a great run in the 3rd quarter that gave them a comfortable 17 point lead. Ginebra have trailed since then.

Ginebra dominated the 1st half of this game 1, but TNT was the one who dominated the all important 2nd half. Ranidel De Ocampo had a great game while his brother Yancy had to struggle. Yancy couldn't do anything. He just bowed down his head in disgust.Ranidel had 10 points while Yancy had 0 points. Kelly Williams also made the life of his Ginebra defenders miserable. He has been defending very well and he has been shooting some important shots in the game including an seemed to be short shot from the high arc. Mico Halili thought that it was short but it was a flawless shot. It broke the run of Ginebra.

Ranidel and Ryan Reyes, had great three point shooting games. They had three barrage that doused Ginebra's confidence. They also showed great hustle. They defended on both sides of the court. They generated several defensive rebounds that led to several fast-break points. Jayson Castro's speed kept TNT's momentum. He was so fast that the girls in the stands cheered for his name. In the first quarter Mike Cortez, the former UAAP MVP worked his way against Jimmy Alapag. Jimmy can't defend him that well. Jayson Castro came to the rescue. He replaced Jimmy Alapag and he man handled Cortez. He in turn dominated the Cool Cat. Castro is the vital source of TNT's energy. He is their energizer bunny. If Castro will continue to play like this, TNT will win this series in 4 games.

Andy Jao said that Ginebra seemed to be too tired after their difficult series against the younger Smart Gilas Pilipinas, but that should not be an excuse because they are in the Finals. It's where you put everything on the line. They should shake their bodies and they should play better in game 2. They should also lessen their bad shots because they are smaller than TNT. The offensive rebounds will be owned by TNT. There should be less turnovers and less bad shots for Ginebra.

Here are the complete quarter scores.
