Juan Manuel Marquez Wants To Weigh Heavier Than Pacquiao For Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3 On November 12, 2011
Their third fight will be on November 2011. Marquez first signed the fight contract earlier this May and Pacquiao on the other hand expressed his desire to fight Marquez because he wants to experience the real boxing after his unsatisfactory experience in his fight against Shane Mosley last May 14, 2011. Manny Pacquiao will surely be in a drag fight because Marquez is working on increasing his weight so that he can also increase his punching power and body resistance. In boxing, heavier weight could mean greater punching power. That's what Marquez want because he wants to hit Manny harder than ever before in their 2 previous matches. Their first match resulted to a draw and their second match resulted to a unanimous decision in favor of Pacquiao. These two losses were painful on Marquez's part and he clearly doesn't want to let that happen again. He has learned his lessons in the hard way.
In Marquez's past fights he has weighed 137 pounds. He's usually lighter than any of his opponents but this time, in his upcoming third fight against Pacquiao, he wants to at least match or weigh heavier than Pacquiao just like what he did in his Mayweather fight. I was able to read an article from Inquirer.net saying:
“I will come in at a higher weight than normal" said Marquez, who’ll be chasing Pacquiao’s WBO welterweight crown at a catch weight of 144 pounds on Nov. 12 in Las Vegas. “But I will have doctors monitoring my progress.”
Manny Pacquiao is the most feared fighter at 147 pounds and Marquez won't be able to beat him if he will force himself to gain more weight prior to November 12, 2011 (the date of their third fight). He should work it slowly but surely. As early as now he should be planning on how he will get to that 147 weight class without hurting his usual body rhythm. I can still remember when Marquez forced himself to weigh 142 pounds in his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. last 2009, he looked so bad, both physically and mentally. His muscles were sagging because of fats and his movements were not that good. He ended up losing that fight via unanimous decision in favor of Mayweather Jr..
I honestly feel that Marquez is better when he's weighing lighter. Just take into consideration when he fought Michael Katsidis and Juan Diaz at 135 pounds. He looked nice and sharp during those fights. If I were Marquez I will think more than twice if he will go on a higher weight just to catch the 8 weight divisions world champion, Manny Pacquiao. One mistake and he'll face the canvass once again.
