Mississauga Majors Advance to Memorial Cup Semifinals 2011
It was a prosperous win for the Majors as their ace player, Rob Flick made the game winning goal against his arch rival Owen Sound. The Chicago Blackhawks has been watching the progress of Flick because they want to recruit him. With his heroics today to get his team to the Memorial Cup Semi-finals, I'm sure the confidence of the Blackhawks are getting higher because of Flick's performance. He's the 2010 draft pick of the Blackhawks and today he just made them proud.
This match was very tight from the get go. The score was tied, 1-1 in the second period. The Majors had a 5 on 3 power play and they were able to score and take the lead. The 20 year old priced recruit, Flick made the game winning goal out of that 5 on 3 scenario.
Flick received the best player first star honor in this game while their very tough goalie, JP Anderson got the three star award after denying 21 attacks from the opposing team.
Flick had 3 points in this game. His team, the Mississauga Majors will face either Owen Sound or Kootenay for the 2011 Memorial Cup Semi-finals. St. John is waiting in the finals. Since 1961 the Majors have not yet entered the Finals. Hopefully this year they will get to that level.
