Ginebra Beats B-Meg Llamados In A Tune-up Game Today, 107-101

Ginebra's new import Curtis Stinson ran the offense of Ginebra with perfection as they beat the B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados, and the final score was 107-101. Curtis Stinson scored heavily for Ginebra because they don't have a scoring big man on the post. He had 28 points in this game. Stinson, Caguioa and Intal had to shoulder much of the scoring load for Ginebra because of their lack of inside presence. Intal is slowly coming out of his shell, he had 16 points in this game. That's quite impressive. By the way, the tune-up game happened in Acropolis Gym in Libis, Q.C.. If you're near at that gym, you might as well watch the tune-up games live.

The game was close from the first quarter up to the third quarter. By the end of the 2nd quarter, the score was 48 to 43. Ginebra was able to lead by as much as 5 points but in the 3rd quarter, Ginebra's lead went down to only 4 points, 55-51. Stefhon Hannah, the new import of B-Meg also scored a lot for his team and he was the reason why Ginebra's lead went down to 4 points. In the last 3 minutes of the 3rd quarter, Ginebra was able to increase their lead to 6 points, 70-64. In the 4th quarter, Ginebra's lead went up to as much as a double digit lead. Both of the teams just traded baskets in the last 5 minutes of the final period up to the last buzzer. The final score was 107-101.

Ginebra still won despite James Yap's 14 points. James Yap is now okay to play in the Governor's Cup 2011. His left ankle is now 90 percent okay. Although his partner, Kerby Raymundo will still be out because of a fractured foot. In this game Ginebra's height was the problem. They don't have enough rebounder and inside scorer. B-Meg had more rebounds in this game than Ginebra. But Ginebra's hustle plays and gang rebounding were the reasons why they won this game. Coach Jong Juichico even used a 4-guard starting line-up because they don't have enough big man to use. Hatfield was on a leave for the whole Governor's Cup and Billy Mamaril was injured and he's out for Ginebra. Mark Caguioa said that they can't live with Erick Menk alone. They need 1 or 2 more big men so that they can be able to compete with the bigger teams like Talk 'n Text and B-Meg. Jayjay Helterbrand only had limited minutes in this game because he still have jetlag after his long trip from the United States of America. In their next tune-up game, Helterbrand will have more playing time.

Ginebra is looking to get either Eric Rodriguez, Ken Bono or Mac Andaya as their new big man. Rodriguez tried out yesterday for Ginebra. Tomorrow, Andaya will try-out for Ginebra.
