Rain or Shine's Front Court Will Test B-Meg's New Front Line As The 2011 PBA Governor's Cup Opens

Gabe Norwood and the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters will test the new front line of the B-meg Derby Ace Llamados as they will clash against each other in Tacloban City Leyte to usher in the opening of the 2011 PBA Governor's Cup. The game will start at exactly 6:00 p.m.. and Studio 23 will telecast it live.

The B-Meg Derby Ace Llamados will miss the services of Rico Maierhofer, Kerby Raymundo, and Roger Yap in their first game today against Rain or Shine. Kerby will have to rest his swollen ankle. Rico on the other hand needs two more months to cure his injured knee and Roger Yap will have to wait for few more days and he will have to miss their opening game because of his groin injury.

Joe Devance, James Yap and their Iverson like import, Stefhon Hannah will have to work double time for at least in today's game because they will miss the services of those three players above. Hannah will have to take more shots and he will have to improve on his 8.9 points and 2.4 assists average when he was still playing in the NBA D-League. The PBA is a whole lot different league wherein an import like Hannah should handle much of the scoring load for his team. His team will count on his clutch plays and decision making especially with their ace point guard, Roger Yap is out. With regard to B-Meg's front line, Joe Devance and Marc Pingris will lead the new front line of the Llamados.

Rain or Shine's head coach, Yeng Guiao is well aware of the potential of the Llamados. He said:

"B-Meg is undoubtedly one of the top-seeded teams this conference. [Joe] Devance and Kerby (Raymundo) plus James Yap and a talented import are certainly a concern for all teams. We’re lucky to play them early since they still might be working on their teamwork and cohesion. They will be a lot a more dangerous as the conference progresses."

Rain or Shine will field in their hard working and all-around import Arizona Reid against the new front line of B-Meg. Reid will test the strength of Devance and Pingris. Reid is an excellent shot blocker and rebounder. He has great footwork on the low post and he can also shoot outside shots when the shot clock demands him to do so. I'm so sure that Devance and Pingris will have their hands full against this kind of import.

And to give you an idea of how the Elasto Painters will fare in this year's Governor's Cup here's how their import, Arizona Reid plays:
