Lyceum Pirates Beat Perpetual Altas in NCAA Season 87 Basketball Game

The Lyceum University Pirates has reached the top of the NCAA Season 87 Men's basketball team standings after they beat the Perpetual Help Altas earlier today. They've just notched their second consecutive victory in the league. They now have 2 wins and 0 losses. Their first beat the College of St. Benilde Blazers and now they've beaten the Perpetual Help Altas. The final score was 93-87.

The game was close right from the start. The bigger big men of the Altas, such as Justin Alano, were dominating Vence Laude, Onofre Napiza and Jan Lacap in the first half. Perpetual was able to build a huge 13 point lead, but when the second half started, Lyceum came back. Allan Santos, the versatile big man of Lyceum, who was a transferee from Adamson acted like a big brother to his younger teammates who were bullied by Alano. Santos showed his veteran smarts against Alano and he took him to school in several instances. But the biggest player for Lyceum in this game was their go-to-guy Christian Cayabyab who had 13 points and 4 rebounds in this game. While the Altas worked their way inside against the Lyceum big men, Cayabyab used his long range bombing to get the lead from the Altas. They were able to get the lead and maintain it down to the last buzzer because of Cayabyab. He played like Chico Lanete in this game. To those who don't know Chico, he's a former Lyceum Pirate who gave several NCRAA Titles for his school during his era.

Justin Alano, the 6'2 big man of the Altas tried to lead his team to a possible comeback in the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter but he just didn't have enough support from his teammates. He just can't do it alone for the Altas. As a result, they go down in the cellar while Lyceum, the guest team of this year's NCAA captures the top spot of the team standings. They are in it to win it. That's the mindset of the Pirates.
