PBA Governors Cup 2011 Semifinals SCENARIOS: To Clarify Ginebra, Rain or Shine, Petron, and Alaska's Situations

Nota Bene: This post was made by the writer to clarify the semi-finals scenarios right now in the PBA Governors' Cup 2011. Thank you Kap!

Given that TNT won against Ginebra last night, they are now in the PBA Finals because of the presence of the outright Finals berth rule. B-Meg on the other hand is now out of the running because Alaska beat them last night.

In the case of Rain or Shine, since Ginebra lost their 8th game last night, they can get to 8 wins and 5 losses if they beat Ginebra and thus, if they will win 2 straight games they will get the 2nd Finals Slot and there will no longer be a playoff.

But if Ginebra wins against their final opponent in the Semis, Rain or Shine, Ginebra will have an 8-5 record. Just read the scenarios that were made by Kap below if Ginebra will win against ROS.

1. If Ginebra WINS (8-5):
a) Alaska wins and Petron wins in their last 2 games, Petron will enter the Finals..
they will tie at 8-5 a piece and resolved via quotient..
PETRON +11
ALASKA +8
GINEBRA -19

b) Alaska wins and Petron splits their 2 games, Ginebra will enter the Finals..
Alaska and Ginebra will tie at 8-5 but because of equal quotient of 0, it will resolve by a conference quotient.. their quotient so far:
GINEBRA +21
ALASKA +10

c) Petron splits their 2 games and Alaska win by more than 12 points (assuming Ginebra's win over RoS is only 1 pt) then, Alaska will enter the Finals..

d) Alaska loses their last game and Petron wins their last 2 games, Petron will enter the Finals.. Ginebra and Petron will tie at 8-5 but since Petron beat Ginebra twice, Ginebra will fall at #3 spot..

e) Alaska and Petron loses 1 game, Ginebra will enter the Finals..

2. If Ginebra lose (7-6)
a) Rain or Shine wins against Alaska, Petron wins their last 2 games, Rain or Shine enter the Finals.. they will tie at 8-5 but since they beat Petron twice with a quotient of +46, while Petron w/ -46, Petron will land at #3 spot..

b) Alaska wins, Petron wins 2 games, Alaska will enter the Finals..
they will tie at 8-5 but since Alaska has a higher quotient, Petron will fall at #3 spot..
ALASKA +6
PETRON -6

c) Alaska wins, Petron splits their games, Alaska will enter the Finals..
