San Beda Red Cubs Beat Lyceum Baby Pirates 163-28 In NCAA Season 87 Basketball Game

The green horns of this year's NCAA Season 87, the Lyceum Baby Pirates, immediately entered the NCAA history books as they lost to the San Beda Red Lions by a very large margin 135 points, 163 to 28 yesterday. That huge margin was the second highest lead that the Red Cubs have recorded in the entire history of the NCAA Juniors. The last time that they were able to win by as much as 144 points was 2 years ago when the Red Cubs beat the Angeles University Foundation (AUF), 168 to 24.

The reason why the Red Cubs were able to establish such a huge lead against the baby Pirates was because of their great defense and excellent offense. Imagine, 8 of their members were able to notch double digit numbers.

In the first quarter, Coach Britt Reroma's team was able to destruct all the shots of the Baby Pirates, and as a result they were able to hold Lyceum scoreless at the end of the first quarter. And take note, the half time score was 76-6. That's how great they were in this game. They were just too much for the newbies in the NCAA. The Baby Pirates underwent a baptism of fire. I just hope that this loss will not lessen their morale coming into the NCAA.

Van Abatayo, one of the Red Cubs' veteran players who was also present when they set their first highest margin win against AUF, led the scoring chores for his team this time against the Baby Pirates. He had 24 points all in all in this game.
