As early as now the new UAAP Commissioner, Andy Jao, is cleaning the league's officiating system as he recently suspended a referee because of the erratic or wrong calls that he made in the Ateneo Blue Eagles vs. De La Salle Green Archers first round match in the UAAP Season 74 last July 16, 2011, Saturday.

Andy Jao said that:

"I will recommend the suspension of Amado Soriano who made the questionable calls during the Ateneo-De La Salle match last Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum, which the Blue Eagles won, 81-72."

Jao believes that the said referee made 2 erratic calls such as the fouls that he called on Ateneo Blue Eagles' Juami Tiongson and Kiefer Ravena in the 4th quarter.

Fortunately, according Jao, the wrong calls didn't affect the outcome of the game. What he wants is to further improve the officiating quality of the UAAP that's why he's pushing for the suspension of the said referee.

The said referee, Mr. Antonio, will no longer be allowed to officiate in the Men's basketball games. If he will be given a second chance to officiate, he will only be allowed to officiate in the juniors and women’s basketball games.
