San Beda took the 1st spot in the standings at the expense of San Sebastian via 88-85, for their play-off match in NCAA SEASON 87 which was held at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Calvin Abueva, had a double-double performance, 27 points and several rebounds as he fired unstoppable 2 pointers all over the court. But all his efforts came short as the Red Lions, led by Garvo Lanete, answered those shots of Calvin which resulted to a tight 1st half.

In the 3rd quarter, the game was still close but the Stags got the shorter end of the stick when Ian Sangalang and Ronald Pascual started to accumulate some fouls. That situation detrimentally affected the defense of the Stags. The Red Lions increased their aggressiveness as they sensed that 2 of Baste's big 3 were in bad shape.

Calvin Abueva and Jovit dela Cruz were still hopeful to get back the lead in the 4th quarter, but, Garvo Lanete was unstoppable. His 3 pointers closed out the game for San Beda with only less than a minute remaining in the ball game. That forced the Stags to shoot hurried shots.

Ian Sangalang gave his final foul to Anthony Semerad. The foul enabled Anthony to shoot 2 bonus free throws. A. Semerad successfully sank his 2 bonus free throws that secured San Beda's 2nd victory over the Stags.
