Azkals U23 Lost To Brunei To End Their SEA Games 2011 Campaign In The Last Place
The Philippine Azkals U-23 Team in the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia this year has finally ended their campaign on a low note as they were beaten by Brunei in their match yesterday. It was the last game of the Azkals in the current SEA Games but they failed to win the match. Their loss against Brunei will put them in the last place in the SEA Games football event with a 1-4 win-loss record. Their one win came when they beat Laos.
The story of their last game against Brunei goes this way. In the first half, Mr. Beloya of the Junior Azkals scored a goal in the 9' mark of the half. That goal happened because they were more aggressive and more eager to score a goal than the players of Brunei. But later on, Team Brunei sensed that they also need to score a goal, thus in the 17' mark of the first half, Mr. Adi of Brunei got a goal for his team making the score 1-1.
I thought that the first half would end with a tied score, but Mr. Reduan of Brunei made a great goal at the 42' mark of the half to make the score 2-1 in favor of Brunei at the end of the first half.
In the second half, the Azkals were trying really hard just to score a goal to tie the score but the players of Brunei were just on the right places on the defensive end that's why they were able to derail the goal attempts of the Azkals. The Azkals had several goal attempts but none of them were successful in the second half. The players of Brunei did a great job on the defensive end, that's why even if they were not able to score a goal in the 2nd half they still won the game via 2-1. Great defense can really win a game for a team.
In the end, the overall statistics of this game showed that the Azkals had more goal attempts than Brunei. The Azkals had 21 attempts while Brunei only had 5 attempts. The problem is that only one attempt became successful for the Azkals while for Brunei, 2 goals became successful. Thus they still won the match via 2 goals to 1.
