Sinag Pilipinas Beats Cambodia To Start Sea Game 2011 Campaign On A Big Win

The newest pride of the Philippines in the world of basketball, the Sinag Pilipinas Men's Basketball Team wins in their first game in the 26th SEA Games against the crippled Cambodia Team via 127-68.

Coming into the game Team one of Cambodia's key players was not with them because of an accident. I am not saying that the loss of one of their key players weakened their team, but really, they are just weaker than our National Team.

In terms of the quality of plays you'll really see that Cambodia still has a lot of things to improve on. Most of their plays on the court that I saw were just isolation plays and one-on-one plays. They don't have a clear set of plays. They just shoot more outside shots than inside shots. That won't do it for them especially in international competitions. On the defensive end they are also inferior as they allowed 7 of the Philippines' players to score in double digits.

Our team on the other hand played wonderful basketball all throughout the game that's why they were able to grab on to their lead until the final buzzer. Chris Ellis and Cliff Hodge were just too much for the Cambodians. They created several mismatches because of their height and athleticism. The combo of Kiefer Ravena and Greg Slaughter also ignited our offense. Their inside and outside attacks confused the Cambodians. Kiefer all in all had 17 big points in this game. Chris Tiu on the other hand provided stability and veteran smarts in this game. He acted like a true Captain Ball in this game. Together they worked as one to get this win against the Cambodians. I also saw that they had a great field goal percentage in this game.

This Sinag Pilipinas Line-Up is really complete. Inside and Outside they have it.

Here's the Box Score from LAKASPINAS:

Ravena -- 17 pts., Garcia - 16 pts., Lanete - 15 pts., Salva - 14 pts., Elllis - 12 pts, Marcelo - 12 pts., Parks - 10 pts., Tiu-9 pts. and Slaughter 5 pts.
