The San Sebastian Golden Stags riveted their 3rd win as they formally wiped the Lyceum Pirates, 78-72 out of the elimination round of the FilOil Flying V Pre-season Hanes Cup 2012 last Friday (May 18).
The Pina-TWO-bo, Abueva and Sangalang, still exploding as they garnered double-double outputs, 27 pts.-18 rebs. and 23 pts. 12 rebs. with 4 assts. and 3 blks. respectively.
The Pirates almost stemmed the tide during the 2nd half which explained by coach Topex Robinson "I let them decide from themselves to get out of the hole and recover on their own." His plan worked in the end as it toughen the hearts of his players en route to their win.
On the other hand, Coach Bonnie Tan of the Pirates admitted that "we're still struggling... Yung formula(team chemistry) hindi ko pa mahuli."
While the other teams are still looking for their team's rhythm, Letran Knights, played minus Alas brothers, tallied their 3rd win against the UP Fighting Maroons, 64-55.
Letran maintained their control in the ball game until UP found their ranges beyond the arc and fired trey to keep in touch with the Knight. But, UP collapsed as early as 2 mins remaining on the clock that frustrates coach Ricky Dandan on the courtside.
Coach Louie Alas is already confident for the upcoming season that they will able to clinch a F4 spot and concluded that their team is already in a "good shape."
Meanwhile, FEU the quarterfinal-hopeful JRU Heavy Bombers, 69-62. FEU still tuning their team as they are still searching for the presence of Aldrech Ramos and JR Cawaling on their recent roster for the upcoming UAAP season. RR Garcia is also playing unsual. He ended the game with only 9 points, 3 rebs. and 7 assts. That troubled the Tamaraws in finding their confidence to go all the way in the FilOil Hanes Cup 2012.
