Elmer Espiritu Ginebra 's New Player after PBA Office Approved 3 Team Trade: Air21 Gets 2 Big Men!
The Air21 Express has acquired 2 new big men and 2 new outside shooters in the person of Nonoy Baclao, Rob Reyes (From Petron), John Wilson and KG Canaleta (From Ginebra) after the PBA Commissioner's Office approved the 3 team trade involving Air 21, Petron and Ginebra.
This trade will definitely increase the capability of the frontline of Air21 as they get 2 big men from Petron. Baclao, the former number 1 Draft Pick during the 2012 PBA Draft, is a 6'6 big man who can block shots and who can defend well. Rob Reyes on the other hand is a 6'5 bruiser and a work horse who can effectively defend other big men.
Petron in return will get Magi Sison, Paolo Hubalde plus Air21's 2014 2nd Round Pick. This is quite intriguing considering that the Blaze Boosters let go of Baclao and Rob Reyes in exchange for the 6'7 Magi Sison, Paolo Hubalde plus Air21's 2014 2nd Round Pick. Magi Sison has remained to be a project Big Man and has not yet elevated his performance since he entered the PBA. But when you take a deeper look in this Trade, it appears that Petron is looking for a solid back-up point-guard for Alex Cabagnot and that would be Paolo Hubalde. Hubalde almost averaged 4 assists per game last Season. I'm expecting his assists number to increase while he is with Petron as the Blaze Boosters have plenty of legitimate scorers.
Ginebra on the other hand, will receive Elmer Espiritu plus PBA Draft 2013 1st Round Pick from Air21. This is a good trade for Ginebra. Not only will they get a chance to get a new player in the 2013 PBA Draft, they will also get a great wing defender in the person of Elmer Espiritu. They have a lot of scorers especially with the addition of the 6'6 Chris Ellis. The only thing that's lacking in their line-up is a committed defender who can stop the offensive players of the opposing teams. He almost averaged 5 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 block per game for Air 21 in the last Season of the PBA. He just averaged 18 minutes of playing time per game for Air21 last Season.
