Letran Take Game 2 To Even Up Best of 3 Finals Series Against San Beda



The Letran Knights have evened up their best of 3 NCAA Men's Basketball Finals Series against the San Beda Red Lions at 1 game a piece by virtue of their Game 2 victory via 64-55.

After the final buzzer, the whole Letran Crowd at the Araneta Coliseum shouted in unison "Arriba Letran!"

The first quarter of this game started quite well for Letran. They were playing with an overflowing sense of urgency in this game. Although this time around it was Jonathan Belorio who top scored for the Knights. He scored 7 big points in the 1st quarter. The 1st quarter ended, 18-14 with Letran having a slim 4 point lead.

Letran carried their intensity to the 2nd quarter. Lituania found his touch early in the 2nd period. He scored 9 points to help his team establish a 9 point lead, 37-28 at the end of the 2nd qtr.

San Beda came out firing in the 3rd quarter. The Red Lions had a 6-2 run in the first 3 mins. of the 3rd qtr. Ola Adeogun registered 8 points and a lot rebounds in the 3rd quarter. In effect, San Beda outscored Letran in the 15-4 in the 3rd.

The score became 41-43, now in favor of San Beda at the end of the 3rd quarter.

In the 4th quarter, the go-to-guy of Letran, Kevin Alas erupted. He attacked the basket several times thereby getting a lot of "And 1 plays". He propelled Letran in the 4th quarter with his 6 4th quarter points.

After the game, coach Louie Alas praised the effort of his versatile big man JoJo Belorio who scored heavily in this game while defending very well at the other end against Ola Adeogun. Coach Louie said that "Jonathan Belorio has been playing extraordinary for them in the past 3 games."

With regard to this Big Win, Coach Louie said "We're very happy with this win. Pero kahit nanalo kami, lets give it to San Beda. Magaling parin yang Team na iyan."

The much awaited Game 3 will happen sometime next week.
