Dwight Howard Leaves Los Angeles Lakers, Joins Houston Rockets: Is It Because of Coach Mike D'Antoni?
By Val Marvin Macanas
Rumor has it that before Dwight Howard let go of the Los Angeles Lakers he asked the Lakers management if there were any chances Mike D'Antoni could be fired.
Unfortunately for Dwight, his rumored wish didn't come true. And so, after some deliberations, we have come to this point. Dwight will no longer wear the Los Angeles Lakers uniform next Season as he has chosen to be part of the Houston Rockets.
"I've decided to become a member of the Houston Rockets. I feel it's the best place for me and I am excited about joining the Rockets and I'm looking forward to a great season. I want to thank the fans in Los Angeles and wish them the best" said Howard.
Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak graciously accepted the much coveted Center's decision.
"We have been informed of Dwight's decision to not return to the Lakers. Naturally we're disappointed. However, we will now move forward in a different direction with the future of the franchise and, as always, will do our best to build the best team possible, one our great lakers fans will be proud to support. To Dwight, we thank him for his time and consideration, and for his efforts with us last season. We wish him the best of luck on the remainder of his NBA career"
This move of Dwight could also mean that he will be joining James Harden and the rest of the Houston Rockets when they visit the Philippines on October for a pre-season game against the Indiana Pacers in the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
