Ginebra 's Aljon Mariano Excited to Graduate from UST after Successfully Defending His Thesis, Let's Congratulate Him!
It's that time of the year again when college students are put in the limelight after going through rigorous academic requirements on their way to their respective graduations. On top of getting that hard-earned degree, they also make their parents happy and proud.
Graduation really is a momentous event and pro-athletes who value a well-rounded development by choosing to finish schooling despite having a sports career deserve to be given recognition.
Following the the news few days ago wherein NLEX hotshot guard Kevin Alas announced that he will soon graduate from Colegio de San Juan de Letran on April 15, Barangay Ginebra San Miguel's big man Aljon Mariano will also graduate on either May or June this year.
Mariano successfully defended his thesis along with thesis mates, former college teammate Ed Daquioag and miss Liza Dumo.
"Ayun tapos na yung thesis defense ko. Inaantay ko nalang yung graduation ko either May or June 2016," Aljon excitedly shared to BallersPinas.
He managed to juggle his pro-basketball career with Ginebra and his studies. That alone speaks volumes about his character and determination to succeed in all his endeavors on and off the court.
"Siyempre kasi importante rin talaga yun. Hindi ko siya talaga pwedeng iwan kasi mahirap na pag iniwan ko siya ngayon baka hindi ko na siya mabalikan after. Priority ko rin kasi education ko. Parang achievement ko na yun kasi natapos ko education ko. Matapos ko habang naglalaro pa ako," he proudly said.
While having a PBA career is already a big achievement, Aljon still wants to graduate and make his parents smile.
"Mahalaga kasi talaga sakin yun. I owe it to my parents din. Gusto talaga nila na makatapos ako. Parang dadalin ko rin sa sarili ko na college graduate ako, UST pa," the versatile big man explained.
To all basketball fans out there, let's congratulate Aljon for a job well done. Hopefully this will inspire the young ballers to also finish their education side-by-side with playing basketball.
