EASL to Tip Off 2024-25 Season at Philippines' SM Mall of Asia Arena with Exciting Double-Header

EASL East Asia Super League 2024-2025 Philippines

The historic Mall of Asia Arena will be the venue of the East Asia Super League (EASL) twin bill to start the 2024-2025 season on October 2, 2024. Pinoy basketball fans are in for a treat as  two exciting games featuring some of the best teams in Asian basketball will collide.

San Miguel Beermen, champions of the 2023-24 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Commissioner’s Cup will go against Korea’s Suwon KT Sonicboom, 2024 KBL Finals runner-up on October 2 for the opening game at 6pm local time. The second game at 8pm Macau Basketball League champions the Macau Black Bears will face the Meralco Bolts, the 2024 PBA Philippines Cup champions.

Arguably PBA's most dominant player June Mar Fajardo will lead the San Miguel Beermen. He's an 8-time PBA MVP and a 10-time PBA champion. Heo Hoon on the other hand will spearhead KT Sonicboom. He's a savvy point guard known for his scoring ability and playmaking skills.

EASL CEO Henry Kerins commented, “Starting the season in Manila is a perfect way to showcase the passion and energy of EASL, both on the court and off it. We expect high intensity competition, with exciting entertainment and activations for fans to experience during the games. EASL Tip-Off 2024 is just the beginning of what we expect to be another amazing season of the best basketball in Asia.”

The other half of the double-header will be equally entertaining as the reigning champs in their respective leagues Meralco Bolts and Macau Black Bears are set to battle it out. Meralco's Chris Newsome who notched 16.8 points in four EASL games, including a 27-point effort against the Ryukyu Golden Kings will once again try to assert his might this time against the formidable roster of the Black Bears led by  point guard Jenning Leung, who has been with the team since January 2018.

The EASL Tip-Off 2024 marks the start of a season that promises intense competition, with 34 matches scheduled across the region, culminating in the EASL Final Four in March 2025.
